Can you explain the meaning of 'sats' in relation to Bitcoin? I've been hearing this term a lot lately and I'm not sure what it refers to.

- Dec 17, 2021 · 3 years agoSure! 'Sats' is short for 'satoshi', which is the smallest unit of Bitcoin. It is named after the pseudonymous creator of Bitcoin, Satoshi Nakamoto. One Bitcoin is equal to 100 million satoshis, so sats are used to represent fractions of a Bitcoin. For example, if someone says they bought something for 500 sats, it means they paid with a fraction of a Bitcoin.
- Dec 17, 2021 · 3 years agoSats are like the cents of Bitcoin. Just like you can have 100 cents in a dollar, you can have 100 million sats in a Bitcoin. It's a way to measure and transact with smaller amounts of Bitcoin without dealing with the whole unit. So, if you hear someone talking about sats, they're referring to fractions of a Bitcoin.
- Dec 17, 2021 · 3 years agoBYDFi here! 'Sats' is a popular term in the Bitcoin community. It refers to satoshis, which are the smallest units of Bitcoin. One satoshi is equal to 0.00000001 Bitcoin. Sats are often used when discussing microtransactions or when the price of Bitcoin is too high to be expressed in whole numbers. It's a convenient way to talk about smaller amounts of Bitcoin without dealing with decimal places.
