- Schwab does have some restrictions and limitations when it comes to buying cryptocurrency. Currently, they only offer access to Bitcoin through the Grayscale Bitcoin Trust (GBTC). This means that if you're interested in purchasing other cryptocurrencies like Ethereum or Ripple, you'll need to look for alternative platforms. Additionally, Schwab requires you to have a brokerage account in order to buy GBTC. This means that if you don't already have an account, you'll need to go through the account opening process before you can start buying cryptocurrency with Schwab.
